Chaldean School in Canada

"Ask and it will be give to you, search and you will find.  Knock and it will be opened to you."  Matthew 7:7

Through our hope in our powerful Lord and in heartfelt prayer and invocation, God gave us the direction and inspiration to start a new initiative of education in our community.  Many people in our community were happy to follow this course and were very happy to see the ray of light provided by God.  We were most happy to establish a seat of learning for our young children which lets them better appreciate our language and the teachings of our Fathers, makes them stronger in virtue and more powerful in knowledge and more zealous in their faith.

Let us thank our Lord always and everywhere, O dear faithful of our church in Canada, for His blessing and His mercy that He have us and is giving to us.  We should always and forever thank Him for His precious joyful gift and blessing in the establishment of our new school of Chaldean language, our nation and our church.

Officially, the Chaldean language school was established in Canada as part of the Metropolitan Separate School District School Board Heritage Language program on September 1992.

The church's school is the general house of every Christian in which students profit from the teaching and knowledge of the spirit and body.  The teaching of our Chaldean Language School consists of five units:

Ø       Prayer

Ø       Language

Ø       Liturgy

Ø       Catechism

Ø       First Communion

Prayer

Prayer is dialogue with God, our creator and Father

Prayer is spiritual power for every one of the faithful.  It is like food that we need to sustain our body.  With prayer we can have tranquility and peace.  With prayer we do the will of God.  With prayer, we love God and respect our neighbors.  With prayer we reject Satan an all his empty promises and we distance ourselves from sin.

"Be on guard and pray that you may not undergo the test.  The spirit is willing but nature is weak” Matthew 26:41.  St. Paul also directs us to be vigilant and to pray always.

Prayer in the house of God

When we enter the church, following the traditions of the Holy Church, we make the sign of the cross when we take the holy water.  This is in mediation of the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit and we recite the Psalm, "Cleans me of sin with my hyssop, that i may be purified; wash me, and i shall be whiter than snow.  "Psalm 51:9

And when we are before the altar we say these prayers,

"We worship your divinity and your humanity O Lord without doubt” and “ One Power, one Seniority, One Will and one Glory to the Father to Son and to the Holy Spirit, forever and ever amen."

With these holy words, the Christian who enters the house of God feels closer to God.  He also feels strength when he asks help from God for his spirit and his body.  Through humble prayer and pure heart his life will be more blessed and full of joy and happiness when he says this psalm.  " I rejoiced when I went to the house of the Lord” Psalm 122:1

The Christian worships before the holiest tabernacle in which there are the body and blood, humanity and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ in the appearance of bread and wine.  By this good act of faith, act of worship and act of love to God, the Christian accomplishes his duty, which is to respect, to love and to serve God and to keep His commandments with love and humility.  That is the only way, which will bring us to the kingdom of Heaven, The goal of our God's creation.

God created us to believe in Him, to love Him, to serve him and to inherit His kingdom.  We do this through prayer.

Prayer

is the key of creation that opens the door of Heaven and gives us the reward from the treasure of the Lord.  By prayer God's grace opens the door of Heaven and God's races and mercy come upon us.  Through prayer, God provides all that we need.

And when we stand before the tabernacle the deacon says, “ O dear teachers and students, let us pray the Hail Mary."

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,

Hallowed be Thy name;

Thy kingdoms come;

Thy will be done

on earth  as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen

The Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace!

The Lord is with thee;

Blessed art thou among women, and blessed si the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

We should be proud to say the prayer that Our Lord Jesus Christ taught to his disciples and to us.  Now that we have received the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation we are more proud and encouraged to make prayer part of our daily life.

Let us pray always, morning and evening this holy prayer and let us sanctify the name of the Lord and do His Divine Will and He will keep us from Satan and will give us eternal life.

At the end of the class we gather together in the church and stand before the altar and recite the Our Father.  Awun D'washmaya.

Hail Mary.  Shlam Lekh Maryam WE also say this prayer which is dedicated to our savior, Jesus Christ:  Lakhu Mara

"  To you Lord of all, we give thanks and to you Jesus Christ, we give glory for you are the Resurrection of our bodies and the Savior of our souls."  Then we pray the hymn Areem Qalkhon:  "Raise your voice and praise the living God.  Holy God, Holy Almighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on our souls."  Then we pray the Msabaru Sabreth Bmarya:  "Waiting i and hoped on God, the body of Christ and His precious blood are on the holy altar Let each one of us approach Him with reverence and love.  And with the angels cheer for Him, Holy Holy Holy Holy Lord God!"

Prayer

O Jesus, the light of my eyes.

O Virgin Mary, my mother.

O St. Joseph, my guardian.

Protect my father and mother, the pastors of my church and all the faithful of our church in peace.  Amen"

This prayer was established and taught by His grace our Archbishop H. Zora for the benefit of the students of our school and for all the children of our Community.

With high reverence all the students of the Chaldean school genuflect side by side before the holy tabernacle and leave the house of God full of happiness and joy.

This is one of the many fruits that the students take when they come to the church.  Through prayer they become closer to the Lord.

The Liturgical Prayer of the Hours is the good way for every Christian, especially for the religious, to follow the duty of prayer.  First of all because this prayer makes us closer to God and helps us realize the love and mercy of our good and merciful God.  Secondly, this prayer lets us realize our weakness as creatures of God.  When we pray the Hours, our soul becomes consoled and it becomes stronger and becomes united in God who listens to our prayer and gives us His blessing and divine graces.  It also removes the power of Satan from our lives.  The liturgy of the Hours help us to offer glory and thanks to our Savior and gives, by his mercy, a good day full of peace, tranquility and forgiveness.

These several interesting words come from the vespers of Sunday vigil:

"  How much are beloved, your houses O Almighty God, Like the perfume of incense and the odors.  Accept O Jesus our savior the prayer and invocation of you servant.

In the Matins prayer our heart is consoled with these words.

"O merciful God.  Have mercy on you r people and do not let your heritage be discarded by other nations.  Look from your throne and see the suffering that we endure from our enemies.  Very soon your grace will shine on us and the enemies will not say, "Where is their God?"

by the prayer of your mother, O Lord Jesus, make peace with all the world which is in trouble thought it's sinfulness and stop all wars ad calamity in this world.  Make peace between the church and the world leaders that together in unity and love we will celebrate the memory of your mother forever.

Bmadhnahai Sapra these prayers give thanks to God our Savior who gave us His grace so that we are able to rise up and glorify Him.  Thanking Him because He has protected us from the evil during the night.

Let us mediate upon these good words.  They call us to be vigilant, like being aroused from a heavy sleep.  God calls us,

"O lazy man!  Get up and cast away the heaviness of sleep because the Lord has built a house that everyone who wants to see Him has to come to His house.

Let us finish this chapter of prayer with these words of the martyrs from the Chaldean breviary, On the Tuesday vigil "Plant in us O Lord and let our invocation rise to you and give us the health of body and soul."  The prayers of the martyrs on the vigil of Saturday says, "let us come in before you O Jesus, our Savior."  The prayers of the worshipers go in before you, O Jesus, our Savior and your blessing and grace help us to destroy the power of Satan.

The Languages

Language is a gift and blessing from God to everyone.  Language is teh unique power in which man shows that has a soul.  His soul is immortal and spiritual and is unique in all of nature.  Everyone is invited to nurture this God-give gift and to do t in a good way, the way of the truth, in the interest of everybody as well as himself.

Because our Chaldean language is our heritage from the early Fathers, including Abraham, the father of nations and the first believer, our Lord Jesus Christ and our Lady and all the disciples and saints, it is proper and good for everyone ot be proud our precious heritage and value this sweet language as a precious pearl.  To be kept, our language should be proclaimed everywhere as it was in te beginning of the first century.  It is our duty to be proud of it.  How is it possible to be proud of something of which one is unaware?  Our identity depends upon our appreciation of our language and our culture.  Because our Chaldean language is the first of all languages, it is our duty to learn and to teach it accurately to others both in a written and spoken form.

We should emulate the brilliant teachers of our church with love and friendship.  They proclaimed this sweet and historical language full of virtue and teaching for the good and profit of our church and people.

 Liturgy

The road map for all Christians is to follow the examples from the life of Jesus, our Lord and take the good that He offers us; the fruit of virtues especially the theological virtues, Faith, Hope and Charity.

Faith is a gift from God through which every baptized person believes that God is the Creator of everything.  He is powerful, eternal and holy.  Our duty is to love Our Lord as creator and as Father through our good and holy actions.

Hope is a virtue through which the Christian, hoping in God and the promises of Jesus Christ that after we accomplish the commandment of God and His precepts, He will reward us forever in heaven.

Charity of Love is the virtue in which the Christian is united with god when he keeps his holy commandments, especially when he receives the body and the blood of Jesus Christ, believing in the mystery of salvation, the mystery of death and resurrection of Jesus Christ."  The greatest love a person can have for his friends is to give up his life for them." John15: 13.  St. Paul says, "These three remain:  faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love."  1 Corinthians 13:13

     Catechism

Is the way, in which the Holy Church teaches its children the truth of faith and the life of Christ?

The mystery of the Holy Trinity, The mystery of the Incarnation and the mystery of Salvation.

What is God?  He is an eternal spirit, the creator of heaven and earth.

Where is God?  God exists in heaven, on earth and everywhere

Why did God create us?  God created us to believe in Him, to love Him, to serve Him and to inherit the kingdom of heaven

The Beatitudes

When he saw the crowds he went up on the mountain side.  After he had sat down his disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them:

How blest are the poor in spirit: the reign  of God is theirs.

Blest too are the sorrowing; they shall be consoled.

Blest are the lowly; they shall inherit the land.

Blest are they whop hunger and thirst for holiness; they shall have their fill.

Blest are they who show mercy; merry shall be theirs.

Blest are the single-hearted for they shall see God.

Blest too the peacemakers; they shall be called sons of God.

Blest are those persecuted for holiness, sake; the reign of God is theirs.

Blest are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of slander against you because of me.  be glad and rejoice, for your reward is great in heaven.

You are the salt of the earth + You are the Light of the world

       First communion

Jesus Christ calls his children.  "Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these."  Mark 10:14

With these Divine words the Lord invites his children to receive the Holy Eucharist and to start a new life with Jesus Christ, a life that is blessed, joyful, spiritual and peaceful.  "Everyone who eats my body and drinks my blood will have eternal life because my body is true food and my blood is true drink."  When children reach the age of reason, every parish initiates a program for their benefit.  This is special program to educate them to receive the body and blood of Christ with reverence and love.

The program of First communion in our community of Toronto

Our competent teachers with much reverence teach the Sacrament of Holy Communion from the beginning at our Chaldean Language school with pure love.  The program that is give to the candidate for First Communion explains:

1) The mystery of Faith, the mystery of the + Holy Trinity +, the mystery of the  +Incarnation + and the mystery of +Salvation+.

2) The liturgy of Holy Mass.

3)

A.  The Commandments of God,

B.  The Commandments of the Church,

C.  The Sacraments of the Church

And the other prayers and hymns which were written in the new hymn book” Praise the Lord in His Temple” which was specially written by his Grace our Archbishop Hanna Zora.

We are profoundly grateful to the leaders of this province and to our new country of Canada for the support and care in favor of the education of our children.  It is important that our children acquire knowledge and skills to serve them in their daily lives, but is is insensible that they learn the truth about who they are as children of God and as member of the human family.

Hymn to our Lord in the holy Eucharist First Communion

How sweet great and beautiful this day of the lord, when beloved Jesus who gives us, with the sacrament of Eucharist his pure body as food and his precious blood to drink bringing us the joy of his eternal kingdom.

O good Jesus, our king and savior you call us night and day to the fullness of your love and say:  "come to me, you who are weary, and i will give you rest, blessing, and power forever".

With heavenly song we glorify Jesus who comes this day to reign in our hearts!  Let us uphold his holy commandments and divine laws for the drives form us sickness and all that could harm us.
